Please remove the idiots from the roads. The way most states
handle driving licenses and permits is that they are a right
people are due. It should be a privilege based on training and
skills the same as with pilots. Maybe even more so since you
are guaranteed to be in close proximity to others.
Almost everyday I see someone driving recklessly beyond reason,
or worse - someone driving who obviously does not know the rules
of the road. I realize every so often you may get in a hurry
and speed or change lanes frequently or get in an accident (by
accident of course). That happens. There are people who do not
know the rules of right-of-way, turning, etc. that should not
be driving until they learn how.
We need to have stricter guidelines on who is allowed to drive
on public roads. I do not believe this will drastically reduce
the number of drivers, but I do expect people will make an effort
to learn how to drive.
I get so frustrated sitting at a light to turn left when the
car opposite trying to go straight is just sitting there waiting
for me to go. They have right of way and need to go! By both
of us sitting there, people behind us get aggravated and then
more likely to get upset later down the road at someone else
causing accidents and road rage.
I propose having much stricter guidelines and tests for getting
a license, and I believe the punishment for driving without
one should be strong enough to be real punishment not just a
small fine. People driving without the proper skills risk the
lives of others. This is unacceptable on a such a large level.
